HITC understands that Ajax have beaten a host of clubs to the signing of teenage prospect Jorthy Mokio.
Ajax have become known for developing some of the best talent in the world after the likes of Matthijs De Ligt and Jurrien Timber developed at the Dutch giants before departing for pastures new.
The Dutch side have developed a huge amount of youngsters in their fantastic youth system before selling these players on for huge profit and it appears they’re closing in on another signing.
Sources have told HITC that the Dutch giants, who were pipped to the Eredivisie title by Arne Slot’s Feyenoord, are closing in on the signing of 16-year-old Jorthy Mokio.

Mokio closing in on Ajax move despite Premier League interest
The Belgian defender certainly has a lot of potential and a whole host of clubs were keen, including sides from the Premier League.
On the 4th October 2023 he debuted in UEFA Youth League for Gent in a match against Basel, becoming the youngest Gent player ever to participate in the competition.
Mokio is considered one of the most talented players of his generation and only made his debut for the first team side in March against Standard Liege.
HITC can reveal that Arsenal, Manchester City and Barcelona all held talks to land the 16-year-old central defender from Belgian side Gent.
The Belgian defender was unveiled by those from Ajax earlier this week but the highly rated teenager was certainly attracting some attention from some of the biggest clubs in the world.
Mokio completes move to Ajax
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Belgian will begin at Ajax’s reserve side before moving to the club’s first team set up.
“We’re thrilled that Jorthy has signed with us. He’s a fantastic talent and many were interested in him,” Alex Kroes told the club’s official media channels.
“Our scouts in Belgium have been watching him for a while, and we worked hard to bring him here.
“We believe in a bright future together. Once all the paperwork is done, he’ll join the Ajax first team for preseason.”
