Saturday afternoon arguably saw one of the games of the weekend as Everton travelled to the Etihad to take on Manchester City.

The focus before the game was firmly on the touchlines as two former Barcelona men, Ronald Koeman and Pep Guardiola, came up against each other.

On the pitch, the focus was firmly on the centre of defence as John Stones came up against his former club for the first time.

Before the game, we compared how he was faring against his replacement, Ashley William, in the stats, with him winning in that comparison.

So how did the two players compare in the game? We took a look.

As it turns out, Stones had the better afternoon, coming out on top in five of the eight areas analysed.

He came out on top when it came to defensive duels won, aerial duels won and when it came to winning the ball in the defensive third.

Williams, though, did manage to post more won tackles, one compared to zero, and more interceptions won, three compared to two.

The pair were level when it came to ball recoveries as they both managed scores of five.

Stones was the better passer as he posted more accurate passes 43 compared to 16, and enjoyed a better overall passing accuracy in a display that shows why City were so keen to sign him this summer.
