Saturday afternoon saw one of the games of the weekend as Everton travelled to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City.

The focus before the game was on the managers, with firm friends and former Barcelona stars Ronald Koeman and Pep Guardiola coming up against each other.

It proved to be an exciting game as a stout Toffees defence held a dominant City at bay, with the two sides eventually sharing the points in a 1-1 draw.

Before the game we looked at how midfielders Idrissa Gueye and Fernandinho had compared so far this season, with Everton’s man coming out on top on that occasion. So how did the two players fare in the game? We have taken a look.

This time it was Fernandinho who came out victorious as he won in four of eight areas analysed, with the two level in two areas.

He was better when it came to passing, posting more accurate passes, 85 compared to 18, and more key passes, one compared to zero.

He also enjoyed a better overall passing accuracy, with his score of 83% superior to Gueye’s score of 69%.

It was not all bad for the Everton man as he posted more won tackles and more ball recoveries, eight compared to seven, although the two were level on interceptions.

Fernandinho was slightly better offensively as he posted one shot and Gueye never, but neither managed to get an effort on target.
