Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters won’t have heard of Christophe Galtier last year.

According to The Evening Standard, the French manager was the man who Spurs wanted to replace Jose Mourinho in North London.

Tottenham wound up hiring Nuno Espirito Santo after the 55-year-old quit Lille – after delivering a shock Ligue 1 title – to join Nice.

Twelve months on, Galtier might be set to become a major name in the world of football management.

That’s because Calciomercato have reported that he is Paris Saint-Germain’s primary candidate to replace Mauricio Pochettino in the French capital.

The former Tottenham boss led PSG to a Ligue 1 title this past season but their failure in the Champions League means the Argentine is not expected to remain in charge beyond this summer.

Even with Nice, Galtier did a stellar job in his first season, guiding them to a fifth-placed finish.

They were only three points off a Champions League qualification spot so that, combined with winning the league at Lille last year, means he is a genuine threat to Pochettino’s job.

Supporters of the Lilywhites won’t be crying the blues for having missed out on him, because sooner or later Tottenham did hire their main target for last summer – Antonio Conte – and under the Italian, things are looking very promising.
