Leeds United Football Club head coach Jesse Marsch has told Leeds Live that he was never going to sell Jack Harrison amid interest from Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

Marsch said on September 1 before the summer transfer window closed that night he was never going to let Harrison leave despite interest from Tottenham and Newcastle.

The Leeds boss raved about the former Manchester City prospect, who can play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder.

Sky Sports reported on August 23 that Newcastle and Tottenham wanted to sign Harrison from Leeds in the summer transfer window.

The report added that Leeds were looking for £60 million in transfer fees for the 25-year-old.

Jesse Marsch on Tottenham and Newcastle target Jack Harrison

Marsch told Leeds Live about Harrison: “Yes Jack has been great. From day one I think he’s been one of the players who has adapted best to what we’re trying to do now.

“I think he’s having a really excellent start to the season and so he’s happy here.

“I haven’t even discussed anything with Jack about transfers because for us it’s a non-negotiable situation. Jack has even more room for improvement and I think he will continue to do so.”

Unlikely transfer

In our opinion, it was always unlikely that Leeds United were going to sell Jack Harrison in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are rich clubs, but they were never really going to pay £60 million for Harrison.

Yes, the Englishman is a very good winger, but he is not world class and is not worth £60 million.
