Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Bruno Lage wants his club to hand Ruben Neves a new pay-rise to stop him from potentially leaving for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal or Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.
Arsenal and Manchester United linked with Ruben Neves
The Sun have reported that Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in signing Neves from Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
However, the Gunners and the Reds do not want to pay the £80 million transfer fee that Wolves want for Neves.
Bruno Lage’s plan
The report has claimed that Wolves boss Lage want the Wanderers to hand Neves a new contract worth £100,000 per week.
The 25-year-old Portugal international midfielder earns £60,000 per week at the moment, according to The Sun.

Could a transfer happen?
In our opinion, Arsenal or Manchester United are unlikely to be unable to sign Ruben Neves from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer transfer window.
The summer transfer window will close in less than three weeks, which means that Wolves would not have much time to replace Neves if they sold him now.
Moreover, Arsenal and Manchester United have yet to make a bid for Neves, and we do not see them making an offer of £80 million now.
However, you just never know when the window is open.
Lage’s plan for Wolves to hand Neves a new contract is very sensible, as it would make sure that the midfielder does not leave for Arsenal or United now.
