Newcastle United loanee Tim Krul is still yet to make an appearance for the Ajax first-team.
Ajax manager Peter Bosz explained how Newcastle loanee Tim Krul was too optimistic that he would automatically break into the first-team, following a lengthly lay-off through injury, during an interview with Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf.
The 28-year-old Holland international made the move to Amsterdam in August on a season-long loan, after missing the majority of last season with a cruciate knee ligament injury, and is still yet to make an appearance for the senior team at Ajax.
And Bosz, who brought Krul to the club, discussed how the Newcastle-owned player took his involvement in the Ajaz side for granted, when he arrived in the summer, during an interview with De Telegraaf:

“Tim is a great guy to work with but he’s an optimist. When he came to us, we had the idea that he would work with us in full within two weeks. I like his enthusiasm but he wanted to participate with the first team before he had joined any group training. We have to be realistic and that would have been dangerous. What he wanted to do we just couldn’t do.”

And with Andre Onana now fully established as the Eredivisie side’s first choice stopper, Krul has his work cut out if he is to prove his worth to Bosz.
It is a difficult situation to be in for a goalkeeper, with just one position up for grabs, and if his situation in Amsterdam doesn’t change in the foreseeable future, a return to St James’ Park will surely be on the cards.
