Lyon manager Bruno Genesio has backed Nabil Fekir to leave the club this summer.

Fekir’s move to Liverpool last summer fell through and Genesio admits the attacking midfielder struggled to get over it.

A move to the Reds could have seen Fekir win both the World Cup and Champions League within 12 months.

Genesio told RMC Sport: “Nabil arrives at the end of a cycle in Lyon. I think he was very frustrated with his non-transfer to Liverpool at the start of the season.”

Fekir’s performances dipped this past year, with injuries also hampering his season.

He scored nine league goals, compared to 18 the year before.

This has dimmed the market a little for Fekir, and it does not currently appear as though Liverpool will be making a move.

Liverpool’s recent brilliant transfer record should be enough to convince other teams to take a gamble on Fekir.

If he is good enough for the Reds, then there are teams across Europe who should be getting in touch with Lyon and scrambling for the playmaker’s services.
