Stand in Wales boss Rob Page has suggested to Sky Sports, during their live Nations League coverage, that he is delighted that Gareth Bale signed for Tottenham this summer.
Bale provided an assist for Wales last night, as they beat Finland 3-1, with the Tottenham forward continuing to develop his fitness.
Bale, who was recently labelled as ‘unplayable’ by Owen Hargreaves (BT Sport), sat on the sidelines for a long time at Real Madrid, and it is still clear to see he is not fully match sharp.
But Page is delighted to see Bale looking so pleased, and he is suggested that his move to Tottenham is exactly what Wales needed.
“Bale has got the buzz back,” Page said. “He’s now at a club that shows him love and that’s what we all need.”
Bale has already made an impact back at Spurs after signing.
The 31-year-old may not possess the same electric pace that he did during his first spell, but he has still been able to score a late winner for Spurs against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Bale has been playing more and more regularly for Tottenham in recent weeks, although there are some doubts over whether he will be included against Manchester City.
Jose Mourinho is almost certain to have one eye on stopping City’s threats, and it could be the more defensively able Lucas Moura is selected ahead of Bale at the weekend.
