Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has confirmed his desire to sign Danny Rose permanently from Tottenham Hotspur, the Chronicle report

Newcastle have taken Rose on loan from Tottenham for the season and the left-back has impressed at St. James’ Park to date.

Rose has forced his way into Newcastle’s starting line-up and played regularly for Bruce’s side.

With Rose seemingly having very little future at Spurs, Jose Mourinho will surely not stand in the way of the England international if a sizeable offer comes in for him this summer.

And Bruce has confirmed that Newcastle are set to make an approach for the experienced defender soon, as he is planning to have a conversation with Tottenham.

“I still think we have not seen the best of him and I still think there’s more to come from Danny,” Bruce said.

“What we have to be respectful about is he’s one of Tottenham’s players.

“Let’s see where it takes us, we will have those conversations.”

Tottenham are said to want £5 million for Rose by the Shields Gazette, but the transfer’s chance of taking place may well depend on Newcastle’s takeover.

Newcastle have been waiting for months to find out whether their potential new owners will be approved, but the league has consistently delayed making a decision.

If Newcastle aren’t bought out then Mike Ashley may be reluctant to fund a deal, with his future at the club so uncertain.
