Glasgow Rangers seem to be miles behind Celtic in terms of quality at this present time.

Former Hibernian boss Alan Stubbs spoke to reporters ahead of this season’s Scottish Premiership campaign, and highlighted the size of the task ahead of Pedro Caixinha at Rangers, if they are to close the gap on Celtic, as quoted by the Daily Record.

The Hoops were totally dominant domestically last term, going the entire campaign unbeaten, and finishing the season with a total of 106 points in the league – an astronomical 39 points ahead of their fierce rivals.

This season looks like it will be no different, if the Gers’ pre-season performances are anything to goby, but Caixinha has at least tried to make a difference, by signing a whole host of new players.

Stubbs, though, believes the gap between the two sides at the moment is just too vast, and told reporters how it will take Caixinha’s men a long time to get close to Brendan Rodgers’ side, as quoted by the Daily Record:

“They have to realise it is going to take a number of years for Rangers to get anywhere even close to the levels of what Celtic are at right now. At a minimium, it will take four to five years.”

There is still a long season ahead for both teams, however, and momentum, along with confidence, will be hugely important for both Rangers and Celtic, if either of them are to be successful domestically this term.
