Tottenham Hotspur talent Connor Ogilvie is making a positive impression out on loan at League One side Gillingham.

The left-back came on as a substitute against Rotherham United, featuring at centre-back due to injury, helping his side to an impressive 3-1 away win.

The 21-year-old was making his 17th appearance of the season for his loan club.

Caretaker manager Steve Lovell told Kent Online: “Perhaps he was a bit unfortunate to be left out of the side but I told him in training on Friday that I think he is a better centre-half than left-back.

“I said he would get his opportunity and it happened. He came on and was magnificent. He won all his headers, he defended well and the boys gave him a round of applause and that lifts people.

“Connor isn’t the loudest but he goes about his business in a professional way and I was really pleased for him to come on and play the way he did.”

Ogilvie is on his third loan spell away from Tottenham, having spent the last two seasons with Stevenage, where he also played regularly.

The former England under-17 international has found it tough to break through at Spurs, and is a long shot to crack their first team.

What he is doing though is laying the groundwork for a successful professional career, and he already has 59 League One games under his belt, more than many players who have come through top academies do at his age.
