Manager once said he was ‘in love’ with Spurs player, and now he might try to sign him

According to The Telegraph, Mauricio Pochettino will ask Manchester United to sign Harry Kane if he’s given the job at Old Trafford.

United are still without a permanent manager after sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer earler this season, and as we approach the summer, speculation is ramping up.

Pochettino is seen as one of the frontrunners for the job, and he’s apparently already making plans for if he’s handed the role.

One of those plans involves making a move for Kane, and that’s not surprising in the slightest. After all, Pochettino has previously spoken about how much he loves Kane.

What’s Pochettino said about Kane?

The Argentine praised the striker on a number of occasions during his time in London, but perhaps the biggest compliment he paid him was back in September 2017.

“He has something special in front of goal and that is why he’s one of the best. All the strikers who are at this level have something special. They are killers. Harry has this special skill,” Pochettino said.

“Him and Ronaldo are completely different types of players. For me, Harry is one of the best strikers. Cristiano is different – he is not a main striker, like Messi. It doesn’t change my perception of Harry. He is one of the best but I don’t want to say I am in love with him, like I did after Saturday’s win at West Ham. My wife is so jealous and so is his wife! He’s unbelievable.”

Pochettino may not have wanted to profess his love for Kane on that occasion, but he did state how much he adores the striker in the past.

“I find it hard to find the words to describe him,” said Pochettino. “I am in love like the fans are in love, like his teammates are in love.

“He is so humble, he keeps all the values that managers like me appreciate a lot. That is why I am in love with him for different reasons.”

Reunion

It seems as though a reunion with Pochettino could be on the cards for Kane, and it will be interesting to see whether or on he jumps at the opportunity.

The striker played some great football under Poch, but Manchester United haven’t truly challenged for major honours for quite some time now.

Kane would certainly score plenty of goals under Pochettino at United, but whether or not that move appeals to him remains to be seen.
