Brentford boss Thomas Frank remains committed to the club but hasn’t completely shut the door on the idea of moving to Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp sent shockwaves through football in January as he announced his plan to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

After more than eight years in charge, Klopp will be moving on and he seemingly plans to take a well-earned break from the game.

Klopp will be looking to bring another Premier League title to Anfield before he goes, but Liverpool need to start thinking about potential replacements.

Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is the most popular name in the mix but Brentford boss Thomas Frank has some admirers too…

Thomas Frank responds to Liverpool suggestions

The Athletic claim that Brentford boss Frank is liked inside Anfield and he could be an outside shot to take the Anfield hot seat.

The Dane has worked wonders at Brentford, guiding them to the Premier League back in 2021.

Frank has established Brentford as a solid Premier League club and he has regularly taken scalps against the top Premier League sides.

Frank’s work is bound to attract admirers and Klopp himself is one of them having branded Frank ‘really smart’ and ‘brilliant’.

The jump from Brentford to Liverpool is an enormous one though and some will doubt whether he can make that step up.

The 50-year-old has now offered his verdict on the rumours whilst answering questions for Sky Sports.

Frank noted that there are plenty of rumours around and seeing his name touted for Liverpool is something of an ego boost.

Frank says that he is happy at Brentford but doesn’t think that he will stay there forever, and simply stated ‘who knows’ about his future with Liverpool seeking a new boss.

“There’s a lot of rumours out there,” said Frank. “I think we all have an ego and the ego likes that little sugar… ‘ooh you’re linked with that, ooh nice’. At the end of the day, I’m at Brentford, I’m very happy here. Do I have ambitions? Yes. Am I going to stay at Brentford forever? Maybe, probably not. Who knows what’s happening in the future, what I know is that I’m here at Brentford and I’m very happy with it,” he added

We would be surprised to see Frank as the next Liverpool manager even though he has proven himself as a quality Premier League manager with Brentford.

Liverpool are more likely to go for an up-and-comer in Alonso, especially given his emotional ties to the club from his playing days.

Brighton and Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi is another name we would put ahead of Frank, but he can see many other Premier League clubs being interested in the Dane having punched well above his weight with the Bees.
