Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a certain Weston McKennie.

The Juventus midfielder was heavily touted as a potential Spurs target during the January transfer window.

And when nothing happened, there was speculation about Tottenham going back for the player during the summer.

However, a season-ending foot injury in February jeopardised the Lilywhites’ chances of signing him because, well, why would Antonio Conte want an injured player this summer?

But according to Massimiliano Allegri, McKennie could play again this season now, despite the initial prognosis on his blow.

Speaking to TMW, the Juve boss said: “McKennie and Locatelli are working well, we hope to have them available by the end of the championship but it is difficult.”

Transfer boost

This, if true, might suit Tottenham down to the ground.

Earlier in April, Gazzetta Dello Sport claimed that Conte was still asking Fabio Paratici to sign the Texas-born midfielder during the summer.

And if Allegri is right, and McKennie does indeed play again before the campaign is over, then the chances of a transfer rises significantly.

Nobody’s going to be signing McKennie this summer so long as he’s injured, but if he comes back before the season finishes then a departure is certainly plausible – well, more plausible than if he doesn’t recover in time for the upcoming window.

The North Londoners definitely need a midfielder to come in, with Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso likely to be moved on, Dele Alli already gone and Harry Winks struggling.

And if McKennie does play again, then don’t be surprised if Conte continues to ask Paratici about bringing him to Hotspur Way.
