Nuno Espirito Santo has been speaking to the media ahead of Wolves’ trip to Leicester tomorrow, and he was asked about Liverpool’s Diogo Jota.
Birmingham Live quote the ex-Porto boss as saying: ‘We are very happy for Diogo. He is enjoying his football, enjoying his momentum, he is doing amazing for Liverpool. I think Klopp is really happy with him. For us, we worked together for four seasons and when a player goes and succeeds it makes us happy.’
As you may know, Liverpool signed the seven-cap Portugal international from Wolves in a deal worth £41 million, and he’s proving to be worth every penny right now.
Jota recently scored a Champions League hat-trick for the Reds, taking him to seven goals in just ten games for his new side – his start could barely have been better.
In addition to his three-goal haul in Europe, he has also netted crucial winners against Sheffield United and West Ham in the Premier League.

It is nice to see Nuno acknowledging his former attacker and praising him, where some managers who’ve lost a star player might’ve responded bitterly to the question.
Having said that, Nuno’s classy response was unsurprising, given his history of working alongside the 23-year-old.

Jota has worked alongside the former goalkeeper at both Porto and Wolves, spending a large chunk of his relatively short career under the man who holds the reins at Molineux.
Under Nuno’s tutelage at Wolves, the Portuguese forward scored an impressive 44 goals in 131 games across three seasons in the Midlands.
