Leeds United remain keen on Karl Darlow as Hull City back away from resigning the Newcastle United goalkeeper.

Hull City have chosen to move away from Newcastle United stopper Karl Darlow due to the money involved.

Tigers boss Liam Rosenior has told the Hull Daily Mail that Newcastle’s asking price for Darlow is simply beyond Hull right now.

Hull took Darlow on loan for the second half of the season and he certainly impressed in the Championship.

Hull would love to keep Darlow Rosenior admits that it just isn’t possible and he will be moving onto other targets.

“I don’t think Karl is someone that will be joining us,” said Rosenior. “Karl is someone who I loved working with, he’s an outstanding goalkeeper but the price that Newcastle are speaking about is something we can’t do this summer.”

“I’m disappointed, but that’s football. My job is to give this football club the best squad possible. Can we be successful without Karl Darlow?:

“One hundred per cent, so we move on. We have targets in the goalkeeping area. Matty Ingram gives me so much confidence, I’m not going to panic into signing a goalkeeper and we’ll keep working on our targets,” he added.

Leeds United remain keen on Karl Darlow

This development will be a positive piece of news for Leeds United, who are keen to land Darlow this summer.

Sky Sports News reporter Keith Downie reported earlier in July that Leeds are very interested in signing Darlow.

The Whites are expecting to lose Illan Meslier this summer following their relegation from the Premier League.

Add in that Joel Robles is moving on and Leeds may need to sign two goalkeepers this summer.

Darlow could be one of them, offering a proven option at 32 years of age with more than 200 appearances under his belt.

That number could have been a lot more but Darlow sadly spent a lot of time as a backup at Newcastle.

Now ready to become a first-choice stopper somewhere, Darlow may well be tempted to join Leeds for that very reason.

Bournemouth open Darlow talks

There is a potential problem emerging for Leeds though with Bournemouth making moves to land Darlow.

The Telegraph report that Bournemouth have opened talks with Newcastle over a potential deal to sign Darlow.

The Cherries want to add Darlow as competition for first-choice stopper Neto.

Darlow now faces a difficult choice; does he drop into the Championship and play regularly, or stay in the Premier League as a backup once again?

We think Darlow should focus on playing after so many years as cover at Newcastle, and Leeds offer a much better route to that than Bournemouth do.

Money will talk but the former Nottingham Forest man now faces a tricky decision on his future as Leeds risk missing out on the stopper unless they move quickly.
