Rangers had carefully plotted Glenn Middleton’s next step.

Rangers were decisive with their plan for talented young winger Glenn Middleton this season.
Now those early plans for the Ibrox talent have been thrown into disarray.
Middleton penned a season long loan deal with Doncaster Rovers a fortnight ago. Last Friday, Rovers boss Grant McCann quit. He has since taken up a post at Hull City, BBC Sport reported.
Rangers might have wished they had waited a few weeks to decide Middleton’s future.
He has already missed out on the start to pre-season under Gerrard, and with Doncaster yet to name their new boss, he has no idea where he stands.

It could all work out. The next manager could take a liking to him too, and his talent may shine through regardless.
But his move looks more challenging than it did previously. Rangers have to hope they made the right decision.
