Everton legend Wayne Rooney wants to manage Southampton, and so does former Toffees boss and Chelsea great Frank Lampard, according to 90min.
Everton managerial target Wayne Rooney eyes Southampton role
Southampton are on the hunt for a new manager following the sacking of Nathan Jones.
The Saints are in grave danger of getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.
90min have reported that DC United manager and Everton legend Rooney would like to become the new Southampton manager.
The report has claimed that intermediaries from the camp of the former Manchester United forward have been in touch with Southampton already.
Chelsea legend and former Everton boss Lampard is also claimed to be keen on taking charge of the Saints.

Interestingly, Rooney was linked with the Everton managerial role before the Toffees hired Sean Dyche.
The Sun reported in early January 2022 that Everton were looking at Rooney to potentially replacing Lampard with.
Risky
In our view, taking charge of Southampton now would be very risky for DC United manager Wayne Rooney.
After all, the Saints are in real danger of going down.
Would Rooney really want that on his CV?
We think that the Englishman should stay at DC United for now.
