FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has given his clearest statement yet that Ousmane Dembele could stay at the club amid interest from Newcastle United and Tottenham.
Speaking to the press via Fabrizio Romano, the La Liga boss revealed that the France international is happy at the club, and that Dembele only needs to speak to the Barcelona board if he wants to stay on in Catalonia.
The former Borussia Dortmund star has been in sensational form this year, with Dembele bagging seven assists in 2022 as Xavi continues to star as manager of the European giants.
Yet whilst this form has been brilliant to watch for the neutral, the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham are not best pleased that Dembele has turned a new leaf, with the attacker looking set to leave Barcelona in the January window.
As per Foot Mercato, both Premier League clubs were interested in signing Dembele earlier in the year, with Newcastle and Tottenham set to try and recruit the winger if he left Barcelona at the end of this season.
Xavi said when asked about Dembele’s future following the winger’s great run of form: “I see Ousmane Dembele is very happy, if he wants to stay he should talk to the club.”

Dembele’s form this season has been nothing short of incredible, and for Barcelona, the winger now looks more likely than ever to stay on at the club despite strong interest from the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham.
Indeed, Dembele has never looked better in a Barcelona shirt since his £136m move to the club back in 2017. And if the winger continues to impress this season, a stay at the Camp Nou looks all but certain for the Frenchman.
