Mark Warburton has suggested West Ham United will need to pay far more than £6 million for Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Seny Dieng, as reported by West London Sport.
After Ebere Eze spent most of the 2019/20 campaign in the rumour columns, it’s fair to say QPR are no strangers to transfer speculation.
And it’s Dieng, this time, who apparently has Premier League clubs queuing up for his signature.
The Sun (11 April, page 67) reports David Moyes’ irrepressible West Ham have identified the Senegal international as a potential long-term replacement for Lukasz Fabianski at the London Stadium.
The report adds QPR may consider offers in the region of £6 million.
But, according to Warburton, who recently labelled Dieng an “outstanding” talent, West Ham fans shouldn’t hold their breath.
The Swiss-born stopper is going nowhere on the cheap.
“Where does this (£6 million) come from? Where do these figures come from? I’m sure David Moyes and West Ham would go about their business in a far more professional manner if they had an interest in the player,” said the former Nottingham Forest boss.

“The validity of that source is questionable at best. Put it that way.
“And the bigger picture? If any player leaves it will be for QPR’s valuation. Everyone’s got a price. The best player in the world has a price if you’re prepared to pay it.
“If any player leaves QPR it will be if the board deems it good value for the club.”
Reading between the lines, is Warburton suggesting that while Dieng isn’t guaranteed to stay at Loftus Road, any club keen to sign the talented glovesman will have to pay far more than the rumoured £6 million fee?
The former Doncaster Rovers loanee has a further three years left on his contract.
