Blackburn Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson could quit this summer amid concerns over the club’s financial situation.

Jon Dahl Tomasson could leave his post as Blackburn Rovers boss this summer with midfielder Adam Wharton potentially moving on.

That is according to a report from The Mirror, who claim that Tomasson is quitting leaving Rovers this summer.

It’s suggested that Rovers had two signings lined up to bolster Tomasson’s squad for the new season.

However, Rovers owners the Venkys have been advised by the Indian government to scale back overseas investment.

That means Rovers have seen their budget slashed and Tomasson is questioning his future at Ewood Park.

Tomasson took Rovers close to the Championship playoffs last term but was looking to strengthen after losing Ben Brereton Diaz.

Instead, Rovers could miss out on key signings and may even have to sell players.

The report suggests that Blackburn are facing losing both Ashley Phillips and Adam Wharton, two young players who have risen through the ranks.

Both talents are likely to attract major Premier League interest and could bring in funds to boost the first team – and possibly convince Tomasson to stay.

Arsenal and Everton will be watching Adam Wharton situation

The mere mention of midfielder Wharton potentially moving on will have sparked Arsenal and Everton into action.

Reports from the Daily Mail last week suggested that Everton had been discussing potential swap deals with Blackburn in the hope of signing Wharton.

Striker Tom Cannon was allegedly on offer with Everton trying to bring the price tag down on Wharton.

Then there is Arsenal, who have just splashed out to sign an English midfielder in Declan Rice.

Wharton is on their radar too as one for the future with The Sun reporting in May that Arsenal and Newcastle United had been scouting Wharton.

The 19-year-old broke into the Rovers side as a first-team regular last season and it’s no surprise to hear Premier League clubs want him.

The Daily Mail even compare Wharton to Jack Wilshere, which will excite Gunners supporters.

If Rovers are under pressure to sell, we may just see Arsenal and Everton launch moves in the hope of snapping up the teenager on the cheap.
