RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann has commented on speculation surrounding Hee-chan Hwang’s future, amid interest from West Ham.
Sky Sports revealed that the Hammers are in talks with the Bundesliga side over a deal for the 32-cap South Korea international.
Now, Nagelsmann has spoken out about the former RB Salzburg forward’s future.
Goal (14:22) quote him as saying: “Hwang is trying to go on a loan deal. He wants to play more. I had a conversation with him yesterday. I agree with his opinion. But if we don’t get two more strikers, which I don’t expect, it doesn’t make sense from his point of view for us to give him up.”
This seems to be very encouraging news for the Irons, as it sounds like Hee-chan is pushing for a move before the deadline on February 1st.
Sky Sports wrote that the final decision regarding the South Korean lies with David Moyes, who doesn’t have much time remaining to find his Sebastien Haller replacement.
Hee-chan has struggled since moving to Germany, and has just one goal in nine appearances so far this season.
However, he was a phenomenon in Austria, netting 45 goals for RB Salzburg including one at Anfield, after sitting Virgil van Dijk on his backside.
After that game, Jurgen Klopp called the 25-year-old a ‘machine’ as the player himself told Goal Korea.
There is plenty to suggest that the RB Leipzig No.11 would be an exciting signing for the Hammers.
In our view, this is definitely one that Moyes should pursue, especially with the player himself pushing to leave.
