The most speculated transfer saga of the summer, apart from Lionel Messi, looks like being concluded soon. Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara, and Reds fans finally have some good news.
Sky Sports said earlier today Jurgen Klopp’s side had agreed a deal with the Bundesliga giants to sign Thiago in the coming days. The 29-year-old Spaniard will move to Anfield soon for just £20 million, plus £5 million in potential add-ons.
That could arguably be the signing of the season. Thiago is among the best midfielders in world football and his addition will make Liverpool even stronger than they already are.
Liverpool will certainly emerge as winners from the deal as Thiago’s departure is a big loss for Bayern. Manager Hansi Flick confirmed his star midfielder was on his way to Anfield and congratulated the Reds for signing a “great player”.
He told Goal: “Thiago is an exceptional player who spent seven hugely successful years here. He’s a wonderful person and an outstanding professional.
“It was very emotional today when he said goodbye to us all. My coaching team and I enjoyed working with him. I can only congratulate Liverpool as they (have) got a great player and especially a great person.”

Huge signing for Liverpool
Liverpool had their best season in the top flight for a long time last term. Klopp’s men were, without doubt, the best team in the country and were deservedly crowned Premier League champions.
A world-class attack of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah combined with a fantastic back five has helped Liverpool achieve great success in the past two years.
Thiago’s addition takes their midfield to a new level, which should give them the boost they need to retain their Premier League title this season.
