Robert Lewandowski leaving Bayern Munich is looking more and more likely, but is he joining Liverpool?
Unfortunately for Liverpool, probably not.
Lewandowski revealed last week that he has probably played his last game for the Allianz Arena outfit, capping off a 50-goal season in Germany.
The Anfield outfit have been credited with an interest in signing the 33-year-old veteran hitman this month.
But Fabrizio Romano revealed that the player had chosen Barcelona as his preferred club.
Sport in Spain then reported on Saturday that despite Chelsea making contact to sign the Poland international, the Camp Nou outfit were still leading the race.
And that’s the vibe Barcelona boss Xavi gave off on Saturday, revealing that negotiations have begun to take him to Catalunya.
He said via Goal.com: “It is a possibility that he could come, yes. He has said it publicly as well. There are negotiations, but it won’t be easy, he has a one-year contract with Bayern.”

Well, yes it definitely seems likely that Lewandowski is leaving Bayern Munich.
But based on everything above – including Xavi’s revelation about negotiations – it would be a massive surprise at this point if Liverpool stood a chance of signing him.
Remember, the Reds are managed by Jurgen Klopp, the former Borussia Dortmund boss who brought Lewandowski – who earns £369,000 per week – to stardom within football and you’d think that the player himself would be keen on a reunion with his old coach.
However, Barcelona, despite their financial woes, remains a massive draw for any player and it looks like Xavi and co will be winning the race.
