Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is on his way to join Liverpool on deadline day.

Thomas Tuchel claims that Liverpool-bound Ryan Gravenberch was not happy at Bayern Munich.

Bayern boss Tuchel has been quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying that Gravenberch is on his way to Liverpool.

Tuchel claims that Gravenberch wasn’t happy with his playing situation at Bayern just a year after joining from Ajax.

The 21-year-old started just three Bundesliga games last season and has already decided he has had enough.

Tuchel claims that Gravenberch sees Liverpool as the perfect chance for him, believing that he can make a big impact in a 4-3-3 system under Jurgen Klopp.

The Bayern boss adds that Gravenberch has actually wanted to go ‘for a while’ and Bayern have now accepted that he is on his way out.

“He wasn’t happy with his situation here as he sees the chance in Liverpool to fight for a place in a 433,” said Tuchel. “He’s wanted to go for a while. An offer came in, we discussed it. The outcome is clear,” he added.

Ryan Gravenberch role at Liverpool unclear

Liverpool wanted Gravenberch last summer and are finally landing their man.

Romano claims that the deal is worth around €40million (£34.2million) plus €5million (£4.3million) in add-ons, taking the deal to £38.5million.

That’s a decent profit for Bayern and whilst Gravenberch is a big talent, his move to Liverpool does come with question marks.

Liverpool seemingly needed another holding midfielder to compete with fellow new signing Wataru Endo.

Gravenberch could play there down the line but his best work right now is when using his range to get from box-to-box.

Liverpool have added Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in more advanced roles so Gravenberch would face major competition there.

It will be fascinating to see where Klopp sees Gravenberch in his 4-3-3 system, with the Dutchman seemingly convinced that he can make a big impact at Anfield.
