Celtic have been hoping to bring in a new right back all summer, and it looks like Josip Juranovic is set to arrive from Legia Warsaw.

The Bhoys beat AZ Alkmaar 2-0 on Wednesday night, continuing to show promising signs under the tutelage of Ange Postecoglou.

Anthony Ralston impressed again, but Celtic still need another right back to challenge him, with Juranovic seemingly on the way in.

Sky Sports reported on Wednesday that Celtic have agreed a £2.5million deal to sign Juranovic, with a medical now imminent.

Personal terms have been agreed, but Juranovic looks set to play one more time for Legia – against Slavia Prague in the Europa League qualifiers this evening – before heading to Scotland.

Juranovic, 26, joined Legia from Hajduk Split last summer, and racked up 10 assists from right back in his first season with the club.

He even played for Croatia at Euro 2020, and should provide the competition Postecoglou wants alongside Ralston on the right side of the Celtic back line.

Now, Legia Warsaw boss Czeslaw Michniewicz has been quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying that the deal has been agreed and Juranovic is already being congratulated by all at Legia ahead of his big move to Parkhead.

“I know that the clubs have agreed on the transfer, and he is still negotiating his terms,” said Michniewicz. “I had a preliminary talk with Jura at the airport about the game. He is willing to play and we will make the final decision tomorrow. How will this affect the team? Certainly there is some confusion.”

“Today many people congratulated him that he would have a chance to develop in another club. But we also feel sorry that he would not be with us anymore. I’m not surprised he’s going, but it’s humanly sad that it will go away,” he added.
