On loan Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sean Clare marked his first start for Gillingham with a goal.
The former Nike Academy talent moved to Priestfield at the end of the summer transfer window on a deal until January, and made his debut as a substitute in the Kent side’s 2-1 defeat against Shrewsbury Town the weekend before last.
Though he remained on the bench as Gillingham went down 3-0 at Oxford United on Saturday, Clare was sworn in from the start at Wimbledon three days later.

And despite the Gills going a goal and a man down at Kingsmeadow, they left with a point courtesy of Clare’s low left-footed effort which found its way through a crowd of bodies and in off the near post.
Manager Ady Pinnock’s said of the Wednesday prospect afterwards:
And the Gillingham fans were perhaps even more impressed, based on the following tweets.
Clare signed a new contract at Wednesday earlier this year, and will be keen to make more of a name for himself at Gillingham ahead of his return to Hillsborough in the New Year.
