Atletico Madrid attacker Matheus Cunha is reportedly keen to move to the Premier League in January, with the rumoured Manchester United and Leeds United target set to leave Spain.

According to Marca, the 23-year-old forward has set his sights on moving to England in the winter transfer market with Cunha recently being transfer listed by Atletico, with the attacker ready to leave Madrid just 18 months after joining the club from Hertha Berlin in a deal worth £42m.

The news will be music to the likes of Leeds and United, who were both linked with the forward before moving to Spain last year as reported by TalkSport, with Jesse Marsch’s side, in particular, likely to be responsive to this update from Cunha.

Whilst the forward has endured a poor season with Atletico, Cunha’s intention to leave Spain for the Premier League could give the Whites the motivation they need to move for the attacker, with the position something that Marsch is believed to be keen on adding to in January.

Indeed, Cunha bagged eight goals and seven assists in his final year in Germany. And given the forward’s ability to play in essentially any attacking role, including as a no. 10, the Paraiba-born star could be perfect for what Marsch is looking for in the winter window.

What’s more, Atletico’s desperation to rid themselves of Cunha could lead to Leeds getting quite a good deal for the Brazilian, especially if the player himself is convinced that a move to Elland Road is what is best for his career, which could take off in Yorkshire.

Leeds’ business in the market under Marsch has been impressive, to say the least, and signing Cunha would be another incredible coup for the Whites, especially if they can beat an good rival in United to the Brazilian’s signature.

With goals and assists needed in the attack, Cunha could be perfect if the South American talent settles in Yorkshire. And given Marsch’s record of developing young players, the attacker could explode onto the scene at Leeds should the Elland Road side go big to sign the forward.
