Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic has given Manchester United and his current employers a scare by admitting his admiration for Barcelona and PSG.
Bosnian playmaker Miralem Pjanic has been regularly linked with Manchester United over the last few months, but he may have set his heart elsewhere.
The 24-year-old’s value continues to rise after an excellent season in Serie A for Roma and he could be the subject of a summer bidding war.
Roma have always insisted that they have no intention of letting Pjanic walk away and the player has been quick to insist that he is happy in the Eternal City.
“It’s extraordinary what PSG are doing – they are a good team,” Pjanic told La Mi-Temps de Sidney.
“I haven’t forgotten that my first professional game and my debut for Metz was against them.
“I don’t know what the future holds but PSG are a very interesting team. They are getting ready to win the Champions League and they must be be one of the 10 best teams in Europe. It’s important for a player to win titles.”
Pjanic, who is under contract with Roma until 2015 and is in talks over an extension, was then asked about Barcelona.
“Their style of play is like Rudi Garcia’s at Roma, so I would be able to adapt very well,” he insisted.
“I think I could show the best of my abilities there. It wouldn’t be a bad destination as a city or as a climate.”
Roma may be somewhat irked by Pjanic’s openness to discussing other destinations having spent the last few months insisting he wouldn’t consider leaving the club.
