From a transfer window that appeared to be stalling, Manchester United have now made a third bid for Bryan Mbeumo and are intensifying their pursuit of another player who has drawn comparisons to a two-time Champions League winner.
It’s a classic Manchester United thing: the club always seem to operate at the extremes, and the fan reaction usually matches that energy.
Senne Lammens has been on United’s radar for a while, but with Andre Onana now sidelined and his reported £17m fee more reasonable than other options, he’s become the main focus.
Man Utd fans react to potential Senne Lammens deal

There was a sense among supporters that another manager might soon be let down by a lack of backing, but Ineos still have some goodwill to draw on.
The club’s financial constraints have led to slow, drawn-out negotiations like the one for Bryan Mbeumo, as well as a focus on finding value in the market.
Lammens fits that mould well – an affordable option now with the potential to become a strong investment over time.
Standing at 6ft 3in and hailing from Belgium, he was anointed “Baby Courtois” by Man Utd fans almost immediately.
One fan said: “Baby Courtois, sign him up immediately,” while another went with: “Courtois 2.0”. A third simply added: “He looks excellent.”
A comparison was made to Emi Martinez links as one said: “I like this option way better than Martinez”. Another went starry-eyed over the price tag, adding: “£17m is a great price tag. We should be all over this.”
The general feeling among supporters seemed summed up in three words that kept popping up: ’better than Onana’.

After a difficult season for Onana, fans were quick to voice their preference for Lammens. One said: “As long as he is better than Onana then bring,” while another added: “He is better than Onana at stopping the ball. That’s it. Bring.”
One fan responded to Lammens coming in to challenge Onana with: “You spelt replace wrong,” while another recalled De Gea’s best form, saying: “Now this is the kind of keeper we should be getting; De Gea was always best when he had Romero as backup. Get it done.”
Lammens could soon become a Red Devil
The fan base seems fully behind bringing in a 23-year-old goalkeeper after his impressive breakout season.
‘United aren’t really in a financial position to spend £17m on a goalkeeper when other areas need more urgent attention.
If the Mbeumo negotiations are any indication though, this deal might get wrapped up sooner than expected.
