Reports linking Manchester United with Harry Kane refuse to go away and with the Tottenham Hotspur striker in such impressive form it is easy to see why.
The Mirror claimed that the Red Devils were preparing a world record £100m bid for the striker, a valuation that the Independent reported was considered “laughable” by Spurs.
Having finished as the Premier League’s topscorer the past two seasons and helping the North Londoners to second on both occasions as a result, it is unsurprising that the club have no intention of selling Kane.
However, to even be tempted into negotiations over the England international a bid in the region of £200m would have to be made.
While this fee may seem farcical when the current world record stands at £89m – which United paid for Paul Pogba last summer, as reported by the BBC – Kane is by far the best option to solve Jose Mourinho’s biggest problem; attack.

Under Mourinho in 2016/17 the Red Devils scored 54 league goals – 32 less than Tottenham, for whom their star man netted 29 times in the English top tier.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a glimmer of hope upfront, but he has now left Old Trafford, while captain Wayne Rooney doesn’t look to be too far behind him.

According to the Metro, United have also shown interest in Robert Lewandowski this summer, but the Bayern Munich forward will be 29 next birthday. Antoine Griezmann has also decided to stick with Atletico Madrid rather than switch to England.
Few clubs could get anywhere near the fee Daniel Levy wants for Kane, but with Man United being one of them and the 23-year-old increasingly looking like their best option by far, perhaps this saga isn’t over just yet.
