It seems that Manchester United’s overhaul under Ruben Amorim may include a new goalkeeper – a key figure who is already experienced in the Premier League.

United fans expect significant changes at the club in Amorim’s first summer transfer window. The Portuguese coach made it clear that many players will leave after a disappointing first season.

After achieving absolute success at Sporting CP – where he won two league titles and three other trophies – he wants to prove that he can repeat that at the top level of European football.

United have already made one major move by activating Matheus Cunha’s £62.5m release clause to bring the Wolves forward to Manchester.

Cunha’s arrival has generated plenty of buzz among the fan base, and United are not expected to stop there as they look to further strengthen their attack

Bryan Mbeumo is another name on the radar, with the 25-year-old Brentford forward also drawing interest from Tottenham.

Emiliano Martinez is one of the higher-profile players expected to be available this summer, and United are said to be in the mix.

Since joining Aston Villa from Arsenal in 2020, the 32-year-old has become a key figure under Unai Emery and remains one of the league’s most reliable keepers.

Villa appear open to a sale if the right offer comes in, reportedly valuing Martinez, who cost £17m from Arsenal, at around £40m this window.

With financial pressures mounting, Villa are believed to be willing to negotiate if their valuation is met.

According to ESPN Argentina’s Leo Paradizo, “talks have already begun” between United and Martinez’s camp regarding a potential deal.

Martinez, who is under contract with Villa until 2029 and has made over 200 appearances for the club, is reportedly open to a new challenge.

Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir both had their struggles in goal for United last season, which has increased the focus on the goalkeeper position heading into the summer.

Paradizo told ESPN Argentina that Martinez is most “excited” by the prospect of joining United among the various options available to him.

He added that both clubs are expected to be cautious in their negotiations, but confirmed that initial contact has already been made between United and the player’s representatives.

Alongside United, Turkish side Galatasaray have also been credited with interest in the 2022 World Cup winner as Villa prepare for a potential departure.
