Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on a striker linked with Manchester United, and the Red Devils could miss out on a move that Ruben Amorim was hoping to make.
Summer signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon have added new faces to Ruben Amorim’s squad.
United triggered Cunha’s £62.5 million release clause in his Wolves contract last month, while Leon’s arrival had been agreed back in January before the move was made official in July.
However, those arrivals are far from enough to finalise the Red Devils’ squad. Therefore, the board is expected to look for new options in attack, midfield, and possibly goalkeeping.
Last season, the frontline lacked consistency, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both struggling to make regular impacts. It’s no surprise Amorim wants more firepower upfront.
Fabrizio Romano says Galatasaray are preparing a new offer for Osimhen after Napoli reject initial bid

Following his return to Napoli, Galatasaray reportedly made a £51.5m bid to sign permanently Victor Osimhen, one of Man United’s targets, but Napoli turned down the offer.
They aren’t giving up, though. As reported by Romano on X (formerly Twitter), Galatasaray are putting together a new approach, having already agreed personal terms with Osimhen over a long-term contract through 2028.
However, Napoli are holding firm on their valuation. Romano reports they not only want more than the initial £51.5m Galatasaray offered, but are also seeking improved payment terms.
United, meanwhile, haven’t shown signs they’re in the hunt for Osimhen. Galatasaray appear to be far ahead in negotiations, and Ruben Amorim may opt to focus the club’s reported £80m summer budget elsewhere.
With one marquee signing in Cunha already confirmed and several forward options already in the squad, United’s summer priorities may now shift away from the front line altogether.
Gianluca Di Marzio reveals Napoli’s asking price for Victor Osimhen
Romano added that talks over a deal are ongoing, but Napoli want more than what’s been offered so far and are also looking for better payment terms.
Osimhen is under contract at Napoli until 2026, but the Italian club are willing to let him go this summer if their valuation is met.
Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that it will take around £64 million – the amount in his release clause – for a deal to be done, and Napoli reportedly have no plans to move off that number.
