Manchester United have to do all they can to sign one ‘complete player’ under Erik ten Hag this summer.
This summer promises to be a busy one at Old Trafford with Erik ten Hag finally confirmed to be remaining at Manchester United after weeks of speculation.
With the speculation about the Dutchman’s future finally on the backburner, attention can now turn to the summer transfer window with the Red Devils needing to make some big additions in the off-season.
HITC has reported that the Red Devils have already made their move for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite with the Englishman seemingly one of the club’s top targets this summer.
However, there is one name that the club should be going for this summer, despite the circumstances of the deal not being favourable.

United open to Simons loan deal
HITC understands that scouts from the Red Devils were in attendance for Holland’s 2-1 win over Poland in Hamburg.
One of the players who was of interest to the Red Devils is Xavi Simons, who has shone whilst on loan at Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig.
Simons has now returned to parent club Paris Saint-Germain but the Dutchman’s future at the club is unclear. The French giants are only willing to allow the midfielder to leave on a temporary basis.
This is something that United are not opposed to and if they could bring in Simons, even if it is only for a brief spell, this would be brilliant business from the club.
Last season for Leipzig, Simons netted eight times and provided 11 assists in the Bundesliga.
Simons would be ideal for United
Despite the risks attached to a loan deal for Simons, this could be the exact move that could help the Red Devils.
Simons can not only feature in an attacking midfield role for the Red Devils but he can also play off the right, which will be useful next season.
United have had right-winger issues for a long time with Antony and Jadon Sancho struggling in that role and the Dutchman could help solve this problem position.
United are famed for their youth production and 17-year-old Shea Lacey could well be ready for the step up to the Red Devils first team by next summer, and by that time Simons would have departed.
Simons drew the praise of Leipzig teammate Dani Olmo, who told the club’s website: “He’s a really complete player and for us, for our system, for how we play, our ideas, the coaches’ ideas, it is perfect for us. Now he’s in a really good mood, in a really good shape so this is very helpful.”
For a club of United’s size, loan deals are rare but with money tight this summer, the Dutchman could be the exact stop gap they need.
