Manchester United are reported to be readying a new £50m bid for Tottenham’s Eric Dier.

Fresh reports from the Guardian have given an update in the Eric Dier to Manchester United rumours, giving new momentum to the transfer of the Tottenham Hotspur star.

The newspaper claims that the Red Devils are preparing a £50m bid for Dier and while Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has ruled out a move, the player himself is said to be tempted by a switch to Old Trafford.

It goes on to say United executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, has met with Levy about the possibility of signing the England international and had an initial bid rejected.

Dier is currently paid around £70,000-a-week in North London, which would be more than doubled if he were to join Jose Mourinho’s side – something Tottenham could not match with a £100,000-a-week cap currently in place at the club.

The 23-year-old is also a self-professed boyhood Man United fan and admitted when he was at Sporting Lisbon back in 2010 that it would be very hard to turn down the 13-time Premier League champions.

As expected, news of this latest development in the Dier saga has prompted responses from fans on both sides. Some United fans are not impressed:

Others like the idea, however.

While Spurs supporters are fairly united on the fact that Dier is important to their team and if he does leave, Levy better make sure he gets a huge fee.
