- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
HITC understands that Manchester United have added a surprise left-back name to their list of targets as the club now look for full-back additions.
Manchester United are understood to be doing work on potential full-back additions with the club understood to be unsure of their current options.
There is some concern from those within Old Trafford about the fitness of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, who both suffered long-term injury problems with the Dutchman, in particular, not playing a single competitive minute during the previous campaign.
Right sided options are also being assessed with the future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka unclear with there being interest from Everton and West Ham United.

United add promising left-back Archie Brown to their list
Sources have told HITC that United have added left-back Archie Brown to their list of targets this summer.
The former Derby County prospect is currently playing in Belgium for Gent – but he is a player well known to United.
United’s minority owners, Ineos, signed Brown for Swiss side FC Lausanne in 2021 and he excelled in Switzerland, which led to a move to Belgian side Gent.
HITC understands Ineos have kept close tabs on Brown’s progress and his name has been put forward to United’s footballing department to assess, given their search for full-backs.
Brown made 44 appearances for Gent last season across all competitions and the 22-year-old provided four assists in that time.
Sources have also told HITC that Todd Boehly’s Chelsea have watched Brown in recent months.
Other targets for the club at left-back include Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell, Feyenoord’s David Hancko, former Chelsea man Marcos Alonso and Tottenham’s Sergio Reguillon, who spent time on-loan at Old Trafford last season, who have all been discussed in recent weeks.
We had reported last month that West Ham and Aston Villa liked Feyenoord’s Hancko but a move to Atletico Madrid looked to be more likely this summer. There is certainly interest from the Red Devils in the 26-year-old.
Right-back targets offered to the club including Jeremie Frimpong
Other names on the list for the Red Devils at right-back include Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui, who has been offered to United, West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur. Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong has also been offered to the Red Devils.
HITC also understands that Rennes right-back Guela Doue – brother of their wing starlet Desire – is a player that United have looked at closely too.
The 21-year-old has attracted interest from Tottenham but also Turkish side Galatasaray.
Rennes are anticipating Doule’s sale this summer and they themselves are understood to be battling Everton for Verona’s Jackson Tchatchoua to replace him.
