Juan Foyth could leave Villarreal for La Liga giants Barcelona just one year after Tottenham Hotspur sold the former Premier League misfit in a £13 million deal, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
Spurs fans were all thinking the same thing as Villarreal dominated Manchester United at Old Trafford in last season’s Champions League group stages, questioning why on earth Foyth had been allowed to leave, and for so cheap.
The Argentine started just 11 Premier League games in Tottenham colours. But the Foyth who flew ripped into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s soft underbelly was very clearly a different, better and altogether far more confident footballer than the one who spent much of his time in North London gathering dust on the sidelines.
Regular game-time – and a manager who trusts him – has done Foyth the world of good.

“I wanted to leave and have more continuity,” Foyth would later explain.
The still-just-24-year-old Foyth has certainly found ‘continuity’ easier to come by at Villarreal. He played nearly 40 games in all competitions across 2021/22, after all.
He was outstanding, particularly in the semi-finals vs Arsenal, as Unai Emery added another Europa League trophy to his collection in 2021, before helping giant-killers of the Castellon coast claim the scalps of Bayern Munich and Juventus in the biggest competition of all last term.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Foyth’s impressive performances in an array of different positions could pave the way for another move. This time; Barcelona. His agent was spotted at Barca’s training ground on Tuesday, per MD, after talks with sporting director Mateu Alemany.
The Catalan giants want a new right-back. Foyth is now one of the leading candidates, after Cesar Azpilicueta opted to stay at Chelsea. With a £35 million release clause in his contract, however, agreeing a deal with Villarreal won’t be easy. Particularly as the Yellow Submarine will expect to make a big profit on their initial £13 million investment.
