If the present is exciting for Liverpool fans, then the future certainly looks quite promising too.
Liverpool youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold has admitted on Twitter that he was thrilled to receive the Man of the Match award in The Reds’ 2-0 EFL Cup quarter final win against Leeds United.
17-year-old striker Ben Woodburn is currently talk of the tabloids after scoring the second to become the youngest goalscorer in Liverpool’s illustrious history, a record set by Michael Owen in 1997, but right-back Alexander-Arnold should not be overlooked after a promising performance at right-back.

The teenager set up Divock Origi’s opener with a superb cross at Anfield in only his second first team appearance, the first coming against Tottenham Hotspur in the previous round, with Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher claiming post-game that the 18-year-old could be an excellent understudy to Nathanial Clyne in the starting XI, as reported by Sky Sports.

Alexander-Arnold, who was also backed to become an England international by former captain Steven Gerrard in his autobiography, was named Man of the Match, and the versatile defender admits the night could hardly have gone better on a personal level.
With undisputed first-choice Clyne the only natural right-back in Klopp’s squad, Alexander-Arnold can also take some comfort in knowing he will be granted more opportunities by a manager whose commitment to and trust in young players remains another refreshing caveat of his charismatic personality.
