Manchester City will reportedly not stand in Aymeric Laporte’s way if the Spanish international wants to leave this summer, with Tottenham rumoured to be interested in the centre-back.
According to the Daily Mail, the reigning Premier League champions are warming to the idea of the 28-year-old defender leaving Manchester after a restricted season, with Pep Guardiola favouring the likes of Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake over Laporte this campaign.
The £57m signing from Athletic Club has made just seven Premier League starts as City look to finally overtake Arsenal in the Premier League standings this month, and as a result, Laporte could be ready to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer, with Tottenham believed to be interested.
90min have recently reported that the north London side have been offered the chance to make a bid for Laporte, with City keen to offload at least one defender this summer in order to bring in a newer and younger option for Pep Guardiola’s ranks.

With City now willing to let Laporte leave, Tottenham could be in the clear to sign the Spanish international, though the north London side could be expected to pay quite a significant sum for the former Athletic superstar given his incredible trophy haul under Guardiola.
Indeed, one factor Tottenham will have to consider, though, is if Laporte himself even wants a move to Spurs this summer, especially if Cristian Stellini’s side daily to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, something that could now be a real possibility.
Tottenham will struggle to sign Laporte even with City open to transfer

Given how much success Laporte has experience at City over the last five years, moving to a club like Tottenham would feel like a backwards step for the centre-back, especially with other big teams also interested in signing the French-born defender.
Top-four could decide whether or not Tottenham land Laporte this summer, and with the north London side set for another summer of transformation, landing the City titan could be a great deal if they meet the requirements to bring in the Basque superstar.
