Manchester City will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the League Cup meeting earlier on in the season while Newcastle go in search of just their second win under John Carver.
To be played on Saturday 21st February 2015 at 17:30. Venue: Etihad Stadium, Manchester
Odds: Man City 3/10, Draw 5/1, Newcastle 12/1
Manchester City seemingly got their title challenge back on track with their win over Stoke City in the Premier League but need to back that up with another win this weekend.
They may have one eye on their upcoming Champions League clash with Barcelona which Newcastle will look to exploit as they go in search of their second win under John Carver to make it four consecutive matches unbeaten since he took over at the club.
City are able to welcome back Yaya Toure to the side while Wilfried Bony could be handed a debut. It could be just the kind of afternoon to bed him, with a defence that has been hit by several injuries – while the in form Remy Cabella could also miss out because of a knock.
The home side, however, seemingly have a clean bill of a health with all of their stars fit enough ahead of a big week for Manuel Pellegrini’s side in the Premier League and in Europe.
A win for the visitors, however, could prove to be massive for John Carver and his hopes of taking the job next season.
