Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez could reportedly demand to leave England on loan in the summer with FC Barcelona interested in signing the Argentine international.
According to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, the 23-year-old is yet to agree on a new deal with the reigning Premier League giants, prompting clubs such as Barcelona to enquire about Alvarez’s availability, with the player himself angling for a loan move in the summer if nothing is done on the contract front.

With Barcelona looking to sign an attacker, Alvarez could be an ideal target for Xavi Hernandez’s side, who have been linked with numerous City players in the last 12 months following last year’s capture of Ferran Torres, who has unimpressed since returning to Spain.
Although Alvarez has caught the eye of many since arriving in Manchester this season, Erling Haaland is Pep Guardiola’s clear starting striker, though the pair did start together in a rare occurrence this weekend, with both players scoring in a 4-1 win against AFC Bournemouth.
Indeed, this new system could be the way forward for City given how effective the outcome was, yet for Alvarez, a loan offer to sign for Barcelona could be a tempting one given how big the Catalan giants are, with the South American also perfectly suited for Xavi’s system.

As we know, Alvarez won’t be a guaranteed starter with Haaland at the club, and with Barcelona in the market for a young attacker, a year out in La Liga could be ideal for the 23-year-old, who could want a permanent Nou Camp move if he flourishes on loan.
