Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City youngster Shea Charles, who could become the third player to make the move to Germany from the Etihad Stadium.
According to Bild, the Northern Ireland international is wanted by the Bundesliga giants as Dortmund look to rain City once again for one of their most promising wonderkids, with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens all recently making the move to the Signal Iduna Park.
Charles currently captains City’s U-21s and is regarded by many as one of the club’s most exciting talents. However, despite being a full international already with Northern Ireland, the midfielder is yet to make his professional debut for Pep Guardiola’s side.
As a result, there’s a good chance that Charles could leave City this summer, and Dortmund seem keen on signing the 19-year-old, who he himself might be eager to make the move given his lack of first-team opportunities in Manchester in recent years.

Capable of playing in numerous midfield positions as well as in central defence, it makes sense why Dortmund are now looking to sign Charles, who looks unlikely to make his professional club debut at City anytime soon under the current management.
Indeed, at 19, Charles has arguably left it late in his career to make the plunge into first-team football. However, signing for Dortmund could remedy this issue given just how good the German side are at developing young players and handing opportunities to talented prospects.
Dortmund signing Charles would be a win-win for all parties

Charles is clearly not going to feature for City anytime soon despite being the current captain of the U-21s and an international with Northern Ireland, and with Dortmund now interested, a move this summer to Germany would make a lot of sense for all parties.
Whilst Charles might not become an instant starter for the Bundesliga side, there’s a good chance that the midfielder will see some first-team action with Dortmund, something that currently feels like a million miles away with his boyhood club City.
