Manchester City’s Yaya Toure has made more accurate – and total – passes than anyone else in the Premier League this season.
The Ivorian has flourished under Manuel Pellegrini’s attacking style of play, enjoying a commanding role in midfield.
As such, Toure has made over 1,800 total passes, with almost 1,700 of those being accurate. Both tallies mean the 30-year-old blitzes the field in terms of competition.
| Name | Team | Pos | Total Pass | Accurate Pass |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yaya Touré | Man City | MF | 1,870 | 1,689 |
The only passers that come near Toure in the Premier League are either from Arsenal or Liverpool – with the exception of Gareth Barry, a Man City player on loan at Everton.
| Name | Team | Pos | Accurate Pass | Total Pass |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mesut Özil | Arsenal | MF | 1,216 | 1,384 |
| Mikel Arteta | Arsenal | MF | 1,204 | 1,306 |
| Gareth Barry | Man City | MF | 1,268 | 1,476 |
| Steven Gerrard | Liverpool | MF | 1,225 | 1,429 |
| Jordan Henderson | Liverpool | MF | 1,266 | 1,459 |
As Opta stats show, Steven Gerrard makes it onto the list of the top flight’s best passers, while he is also joined by team-mate Jordan Henderson.
Barry, however, has both made more accurate passes and total passes than the Liverpool pair, while all three have made more than Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil and Mikel Arteta.
But it is Toure’s passing that really rises above the competition.
| Name | Team | Pos | Accurate Long Balls | Successful Final Third Passes | Fwd Pass |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yaya Touré | Man City | MF | 119 | 417 | 552 |
A further look at the Ivorian’s statistics show that he has made 119 accurate long balls this season, as well as 417 successful final third passes – no doubt playing his part in a huge number of goals in the process.
Of Toure’s 1,870 passes, meanwhile, over a quarter have been played forward, with the 30-year-old always looking to push City forward when he can.
