Napoli are considering a January bid for Manchester City midfielder Javi Garcia, according to reports in Italy and England.
Press reports suggest that Napoli boss Rafa Benitez could move for Manchester City’s Javi Garcia in the winter window to reinforce his stuttering side.
Napoli started the Serie A season magnificently but have hit a slump that may be related to a lack of strength in depth in the squad.
Last night’s Champions League defeat at Borussia Dortmund means the Partenopei must beat Arsenal at the San Paolo to qualify for the next stage, while their Scudetto bid has lost momentum after defeats against Juventus and Parma.
The answer to Napoli’s woes could be Garcia who joined Manchester City from Benfica last summer but hasn’t settled in the Premier League.
According to Sports Direct News and Sky Sport Italia, Benitez is an admirer of his compatriot Garcia and City may let him leave as he isn’t part of Manuel Pellegrini’s first-team plans.
At the age of 26, Garcia would be likely to welcome the move as he is unlikely to be satisfied warming the bench in Manchester.
Napoli are known to have cash to spend as club President Aurelio De Laurentiis made it known he had over £100m to invest last summer, which wasn’t all swallowed up.
