Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United are set to be disappointed in their pursuit of one Inter Milan star this summer, HITC understands.

A new midfielder looks to be high on the list of priorities for Manchester United and Manchester City this summer but Arne Slot’s Liverpool are understood not to have a midfielder high on their list of priorities.

HITC have reported that the club believe that Spanish teenager Stefan Bajcetic is in for a big season at Anfield.

Nevertheless, these three English clubs have held an interest in Inter Milan midfielder Nicola Barella but it appears as if these English clubs are set to be disappointed this summer.

Belief that Barella is one of Europe’s elite

Sources have confirmed that Barella is set to put pen to paper on a new deal at Inter, ending any speculation that the Italian could move to England.

Barella, who has been named in Italy’s Euro 2024 squad, is admired across Europe and HITC understands many English clubs think he is one of Europe’s elite midfielders.

HITC has been told that City, Liverpool and United have kept a watching brief of Barella, even before his move to the San Siro back in 2019.

There has never been much of an indication from the Italian that he wanted to move to England, but the clubs have maintained contact with his representatives and in recent years, there had been some hope that he would look at trying his hand away from Serie A.

Barella disappointment

However, despite this, HITC understands that Barella’s representatives are set to inform the trio of English clubs, as well as Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich that he won’t be moving this summer, or indeed anytime soon.

The Italian is ready to put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at the club under Simone Inzaghi, who has just guided Inter to the Serie A title last season.

Inter have enjoyed a very good start to the summer, with Barella and star striker Lauturo Martinez both agreeing to new terms with the club.
