Manchester City icon Yaya Toure has admitted the regularly speaks to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, with the former midfielder now a coach at Tottenham.

In an interview with the Times, the three-time Premier League winner revealed that he is regular contact with the German coach since retiring from football, with Toure saying that he is set to meet Klopp soon.

The former City dynamo paid a visit to Liverpool’s pre-season training camp in Austria last summer, Toure since landing a job at Tottenham as a youth coach shortly following the appointment of Antonio Conte.

With Klopp, who earns a reported £300,000-a-week according to Sports Illustrated, set to take on City next month in what is being billed as the Premier League title decider, the relationship with Toure will no doubt be tested.

The former FC Barcelona star was one of the best players in the Premier League in the 2010s. Yet despite his loyalties to City, Toure has admitted that he is close with Klopp, with the 38-year-old lauding the Liverpool squad and the German’s mentality.

Toure said on Klopp: “Liverpool are so, so strong. Klopp, when he wins games, I text him and he is delighted and he always invites me (to meet him) and texts me back. Does this guy rest? I don’t think so, he loves football. He’s a top, top, guy.”
