However, this news emerges just a day after Stefan Ortega’s howler in the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Southampton.
As City lost 2-0 to the Saints, Ortega did not make life any easier for the visitors, after being stranded in no man’s land for Moussa Djenepo’s expert dink from long range.
After witnessing a disastrous outing from the German, it seems as if Man City may be interested in signing Yassine Bounou.
The 31-year-old became a household name during the World Cup, making a number of superhuman saves for a Moroccan side that finished 4th at the competition.

These links have seemingly come out of nowhere, considering City signed Stefan Ortega on a free transfer in the summer.
In our view: Bounou to City is next to impossible
Considering Ortega is halfway into his first season as a replacement for Zack Steffen, it is unlikely that the Sky Blues will find a successor for him this early.
Also, the ex-Arminia Bielefeld man has largely been brilliant in goal for the Premier League champions.
While Yassine Bounou is a terrific goalkeeper, it seems next to impossible that Man City are looking to sign him.
