El Chiringuito have reported that Man City have enquired about signing Yassine Bounou.
The Sevilla goalkeeper made the cut in HITC Football’s World Cup Team of the Tournament, and rightfully so, after his incredible showings for Morocco.
It is likely that Man City view Bounou as a No.2, as Ederson embodies Pep Guardiola’s system like no other No.1 in world football.
However, this news emerges just a day after Stefan Ortega’s howler in the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Southampton.
As City lost 2-0 to the Saints, Ortega did not make life any easier for the visitors, after being stranded in no man’s land for Moussa Djenepo’s expert dink from long range.
After witnessing a disastrous outing from the German, it seems as if Man City may be interested in signing Yassine Bounou.
The 31-year-old became a household name during the World Cup, making a number of superhuman saves for a Moroccan side that finished 4th at the competition.
During penalty shootouts as well, the Montreal-born shotstopper was unbeatable, famously ensuring that Spain only score 1 spot-kick as the favourites crashed out in the last-16.
Now, it seems Man City have Bounou on their radar.
Man City enquire about signing Yassine Bounou

El Chiringuito have stated in a latest report that Man City have ‘asked’ Sevilla whether Yassine Bounou is up for sale.
These links have seemingly come out of nowhere, considering City signed Stefan Ortega on a free transfer in the summer.
In our view: Bounou to City is next to impossible
Considering Ortega is halfway into his first season as a replacement for Zack Steffen, it is unlikely that the Sky Blues will find a successor for him this early.
Also, the ex-Arminia Bielefeld man has largely been brilliant in goal for the Premier League champions.
While Yassine Bounou is a terrific goalkeeper, it seems next to impossible that Man City are looking to sign him.
