Manchester City reportedly have a plan in motion for the summer transfer window, with Erling Haaland the main target for Pep Guardiola’s side.
According to the Athletic, the signing of Julian Alvarez has done little to dismay the Cityzens from signing the Norwegian international at the end of the season. The Manchester side have been linked with Haaland for some time, and this summer could be the time for City to make a move.
Haaland is expected to be one of the most in-demand players in the summer transfer window, with City just one of multiple clubs interested in the Borussia Dortmund star, who could also be one of the most expensive players in total.
As per Sky Sports News, the total package for Haaland including transfer fees, wages and agent demands could cost around £250m, a figure that could put many clubs off signing the 21-year-old attacker.
However, it appears that City will push on to sign Haaland, even after the signing of Alvarez, who is expected to join up with the club in the summer after spending the first half of the season with River Plate.
The 22-year-old Argentine striker is one of South America’s most exciting talents and has been hailed by City supporters as the heir to Sergio Aguero. But, a move to Haaland could make Alvarez’s time at the Manchester club complicated.
Haaland to City is the dream, Alvarez’s future could be in doubt

There is no question that Haaland is the perfect striker to lead City into the future and to secure their dream of winning the UEFA Champions League. However, the signing of the attacker could already throw doubt over Alvarez’s place in the squad.
Indeed, the Argentine striker could find himself second or third choice by the time he lands in Manchester if City decide to sign Haaland. And for Alvarez, the Dortmund star could prove to be a rival should they both end up at the same club this year.
