Vincent Kompany scored a long-range goal as Man City beat Leicester in the Premier League but Kyle Walker’s earlier attempt wasn’t quite so good.

In one of the most exhilarating Premier League title races for years, Manchester City are once again in pole position to lift the trophy come Sunday.

Pep Guardiola’s charges laboured against Leicester City on Monday night, the 2015-16 champions and with a pedigree of having a decent record against the Citizens in recent years.

However, none other than Vincent Kompany, the Man City captain and talisman, delivered arguably this season’s “Aguero” moment with an outstanding goal in the 70th minute.

When centre-backs score, they’re normally thumping headers from corners, but the Belgian ace provided a finish that any world-class striker would have been proud of.

Making his way towards the Leicester goal, he thought about pulling the trigger further back, then changed his mind, and then let rip with a superb curling strike into the top corner.

Cue relief and subsequently pandemonium at the Etihad Stadium, with the club’s fate in their own hands ahead of Sunday’s game with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Raheem Sterling took to Twitter after the game and even he was in disbelief at his captain’s effort:
